Allergic response: Your response to an antihistamine is indicative of an allergic reaction which may lead to recurrent wheezing. Taking the antihistamine counters the effect of a potential exposure to an allergen. Allergy testing and avoiding smoke, mold, dust, pollen and animals is recommended. Albuterol may be used to control wheezing with an inhaled corticosteroid. Asthma should be ruled out.
