No: Sperm have been known to live and be viable as long as 5 days within the female. This will depend on contains being optimum for viability, But there has not been any credible reports of sperm living longer within the female. Once frozen, outside the body, sperm can remain vis or for years.

Up to 5 days: Sperm can remain viable in the female reproductive tract for about five days. Don't know who the "many people" are, but they apparently are not correct.
