A member asked:

I am considering taking propranolol for sporadic but long term stress symptoms. can taking propranolol lead to chronic heart failure or other chronic heart problems? thanks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Adverse effects: Your concerns need to be discussed, as propranolol has numerous side effects, including slowing of pulse, decrease of blood pressure, exacerabation of asthma, fatigue, depression, cognitive slowing, potential cardiac problems, etc. There are other beta blockers which are a bit better tolerated. Would urge lengthy discussion with your doctor if there is decision to embark in this direction.
