Candida infection: Recurrent Candidal infections can cause cracking and breaking of the fragile skin in the vagina. Make sure you are treating the Candida infection with either cream or suppositories in order to get rid of the infection. Be very gentle with the skin in the vaginal area and avoid sexual intercourse which can cause tears and abrasions until healed. It can take up to 10 days.
