30 - 60 minutes: Cup must be sterile and best be kept at body temperature. Ideally sperm should be washed free of semen before insemination or IVF. Sperm washed in sterile normal saline (O.9%) both protects sperm & maximizes fertility potential. Also removes any irritant effect of semen on cervix, uterus or fallopian tubes.
