A member asked:

How can you tell the difference between a runny nose and cerebrospinal fluid leak? can you just develop a leak with no injury?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Approach: A simple way to check if spinal fluid is exiting your nose is to check presence of glucose using a simple glucose test tab. Your doctor could easily check. Regarding a potential CSF leak, you do not provide any information regarding symptoms or reasons for your concerns. Wonder if the "runny nose" is from allergies or chronic sinusitis. Again, your doctor can sort out.
