Herpes suppression: Assuming you have genital herpes due to HSV2 and if say 1-2 weeks between sexually active periods, intermittent treatment is fine. Start valacyclovir (Valtrex) at least a day and preferably 2 days before sex. Taking it intermittently rather than continously, use 1 g daily, not 500 mg. If "sexually active periods" only a few days apart, you may as well take it continuously, which is harmless.
