Caffeine: Caffeine or caffeine has acid that may make heartburn/ GERD worse in some people but also has health benefits ( especially for the liver) - so OK to drink several cups a day if you tolerate and enjoy!

IBS: Many people find that they regularly get the urge and move their bowels after their morning coffee as caffeine can be a bowel stimulant. IBS characterized by predominant constipation would be helped by morning coffee intake. Patients with IBS characterized by predominant diarrhea may not want this stimulation by caffeine.
