Beginning: Start at the beginning. See a General Practitioner for an initial examination and review of your health history, meds, etc. The GP may treat you or refer you on to a specialist Gastroenterologist for additional tests, studies, imaging, etc. Let the examining Physicians decide on the appropriate treatment after he/she has examined you and your test results.

Gastroenterologist: If this is an ongoing symptom a gastroenterologist is best to evaluate you and a gastroscopy may well be indicated. Upper abdominal discomfort worsened by meals may be caused by inflammation of the stomach lining(gastritis), pancreatitis or gastric ulceration. Duodenal peptic ulcer pain is usually relieved by food. Avoid spicy or greasy foods, alcohol, caffeine, aspirin, ibuprofen. Take pepcid.
