A member asked:

My 11 month old daughter has a moveable lump about the size of a lima bean under her left nipple. should i be concerned?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely normal: Some infants, both male and female will have spongy breast tissue evident on exam in infancy that reflects maternal hormones that crossed over during pregnancy. Most have cleared this by 6 mo but some stay longer. It may only effect one side. If painful or increasing in size it may represent an infection in the tissue and need meds. Talk this over with your doc.
