I had a appendectomy about 2 weeks ago. i suddenly developed some very sharp stabbing cramps in my upper abdomin yesterday. it getting worse as the day is progressing. i am also experiencing nausea, burping more than usual and light headed?

Need to call surgeon: What you're describing could be something called an ileus, where basically your gut is paralyzed and not moving things through. Could be a post-op infection causing it, or adhesions that have formed after the surgery. You need to speak to your doctor in the next 12 hours, and if you start vomiting or running a fever of over 100.5, just go to ER.
