A member asked:

If a teen has been in very close contact with a covid positive friend and is now showing symptoms should she go in to see a doctor??

No!!!: First, she needs to get tested. You can CALL your doctor to get that order. If she is having minor symptoms, care for her in quarantine at home. If she develops worsening symptoms of difficulty breathing, severe chest pain, etc, then take to ER where they can isolate her and get any tests she may need like a CXR. We are trying to keep + patients out of doctor office so we safely treat usual pt.

Call her doctor: Please call her doctor who can give you more specific local advice. In the ideal world,it is best to be examined and tested if necessary, including screening for other possible causes of her illness. Many doctors won't order the test without a visit first, but they are the best ones to decide. If symptoms are mild, and she can get tested by a local testing site you can do that;she should also isolate.
