My 1 and a half year old son has oral thrush. i have been giving him candacide oral suspension drops for 2 days along with probiotic drops (both every 6 hours as per the chemists advice) but it is not clearing up. he struggles to eat, drink and sleep?

Options: You can help speed recovery by mechanically removing some of the material. A wet gauze or cloth around a finger can be used to scrape away/remove some. You can apply the med drops directly to the involved sites. Swallowed drops provide no benefit. Chilled fluids are easier to swallow.

Offer fluids: Consider an oral anti fungal agent if the medication is not working and an immune workup to ensure there is no T cell defect in particular. Infants with immune defects also are prone to pneumonia. Encourage fluids and keep the baby well hydrated.
