Spinal strengthening: Yes! Through cervical extensor exercises, (the muscles going up and down, in the back of your neck from your skull to your upper shoulder blades), you can work towards a more normal posturing of your neck, which keeps it in the least stressed position as it applies to its structures (such as discs). Head down positioning at desk work/use of smart phones, etc works against this "lordotic" posture
