Radiation of pain: The pattern of discogenic pain is typically down back of leg, "sciatica". Anterior might implicate hips, or sacroiliac joints, and you could be experiencing problems with lateral femoral cutaneous nerves (neuralgia paresthetica). None of this is urgent, but an exam by your doctor could sort out these possibilities.

Mid lumbar: While L2-3 and L3-4 irritation (compression, inflammation) could cause both symptoms, the location is not as common as the lower lumbar disc. The anterior leg pain may be the primary problem (strain, femoral Nerve compression). Consider calling your doc or a PMR specialist to evaluate YOU and order X-rays, or EMG/NCS to verify your problem. Good luck
