Health care: I often feel excited when I find a diagnostic challenge. However, if I do a thorough workup and still can't get a good handle on things- that is frustrating. The reason is that I want to help my patients. If I find that what I am doing has been of significant help it is disappointing. I can only speak for myself.

Varies: As a consultant, it was common to see 3rd and 4th opinions regarding undiagnosed conditions, and often answers were forthcoming with diligent focus. All doctors have different experiences and a new view can open understanding. Discipline, not motivation, can lead to answers to dilemmas.

DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEM: If I can't figure out the cause or the root of the problem I think it is best for my patient to consult with another Dr. to get a second opinion. I recognize I am not always the best professional for every patient.
