A member asked:

My dr switched me from lessina to tri sprintec three days ago due to breakthrough bleeding on lessina. a day after starting tri sprintec it looked as through the bleeding was ending, but now its like on starting a period all over again. normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low dose bcp ?'s: The cause of breakthrough bleeding with any kind of low dose oral bcp's is not being very punctual in taking the active pills within the hour of the previous day's active pill. Unless you started a new pack greater than seven days after stopping the previous pack of bcp's, the chance of pregnancy is minimal. Stop the present pack, wait five days, and start a new pack, but be punctual.
