Yes: Prism is needed to keep your two eyes better coordinated. Prism in a bifocal is tricky because the prism you need for distance vision is usually different from what you may need for close work/reading.

Most likely yes: Prisms adjust for minor muscle imbalances to alignment. If your old spectacles has a prism, your new ones will as well.
