A member asked:

When would genital herpes appear if you've been affected? can you get anal herpes without ever having anal sex or touching the anus? if so, likelihood?

Herpes symptoms: Newly acquired HSV infection, genital or oral, usually result in symptoms (blisters, sores, etc) in 3-5 days, rarely up to 3 weeks but no longer. Recurrent anal outbreaks are rare following genital infection, but could happen; outbreaks can occur on the scrotum, lower abdomen, anal area, upper thights, etc -- anywhere in the areas covered by men's boxer shorts.
