Borderline low: The lower value for normal for men is in the 13-13.5 range by most labs. Yours is as close as it can be to normal, on the lower side. Typically work out is initiated based on other hints, such as symptoms or red blood cell size. Your best reference remains your doc who also can comment and advise for further tests having the full picture of known conditions, treatment, screening procedures, etc.

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, low hemoglobin in an adult male warrants exclusion of bleeding in stomach/intestine and you need to follow your doctor's advise about further testing, if needed. Wish you good health!
