The fact: That you are on both drugs suggests this is a new diagnosis. The swelling improves in weeks. In severe DVT the valves in the veins can be permanently damaged and this leads to some degree of swelling which is permanent.

Dvt: Will solidify and become chronic in about 4-6 weeks. Will usually go away 4-6 months. But can have chronic vein scarring it valve dysfunction after.
