Negative study: Urine cultures are most accurate when obtained as a clean catch ( the vulva is cleaned & sample is from a mid stream caught in process) or by catheter inserted into the bladder. The report cited means that skin germs contaminated the specimen. The total colony count of several germs of 25,000 was too few to consider this urine infected.
