A member asked:

What are the symptoms of lactose intolerance? is there a treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many/avoid it: Lactose is the sugar commonly found in cow milk products. Absence of an enzyme in your gut cells (lactase) means it is not absorbed. Gut bacteria feed on it producing gas & acid. Bloating, pain, watery stools & anal pain are common symptoms. Most can be symptom free just by avoiding milk products. You can take the enzyme as a pill or use milk products with the enzyme in it.
