A member asked:

Viral pneumonia will destroy lymphocytes while bacterial pneumonia wont? is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Backwards thinking: The part of the cellular immune response to a viral infection is the job of lymphocytes that attack & help control them. Other white cells called neutrophils attack & help control bacteria that are present in that form of pneumonia. These are different specialists that have different jobs.
