Aphthous ulcer: This sounds like an aphthous ulcer, otherwise known as a canker sore. They are very common and can occur anywhere in the mouth. They are quite painful and sometimes local anesthetic medication for canker sores can give temporary relief. Avoid spicy and citrus foods and drinks for now as they may irritate the area.May be caused by viruses, hormonal changes, and stress.See your doctor if not improved.
