ESR: It's Westergren, not wintergreen. ESR is erythrocyte sedimentation rate (or just "sed rate"), a measure of how fast red blood cells (erythrocytes) settle out of plasma. ESR can be elevated in conditons causing fever, inflammation, etc. An abnormal result never documents any particular problem -- it's similar to measuring body temperature. Standard blood draw from a vein (venipuncture).
