CONTRACEPTION: If time is sufficient, a high-dose contraceptive which can be prescribed to prevent implantation (not normally used when I was in practice). If not, and her period comes as expected (and is normal), the absence of pregnancy is confirmed. If it doesn't come as expected, a board-certified gynecologist should be consulted. Furthermore, if her period comes, this "scare" should facilitate discussion
