Vaginal spotting: You need a further evaluation. During the first trimester, one may have vaginal spotting due to implantation bleeding or others may have diagnosis of a subchorionic hematoma. There may be cervical issues that may contribute to vaginal spotting. Please schedule an appointment with obgyn for further study. This would include labs, pelvic exam and an ultrasound.

Watch and wait: Mild bleeding/spotting is not uncommon in early pregnancy. If bleeding increases in amount and you get cramps, it would be prudent to see your doctor or if the symptoms are severe, go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital. Wish you good health and a healthy baby!
