Menopause ?'s: Age 40 is early for menopause. There are other conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) which will lead to cessation of menstruation. Get a serum FSH test from your gyn physician to see if this is actual menopause. Ask your gyn physician about low dose oral contraceptives to ease the PMS which can arise with diminished estrogen levels.
