Pregnancy: There are only a limited amount of days in the month that you can achieve pregnancy. With women that have 28 day cycles in usually occurs around 14 days of the cycle. Menses will occur at the end of a cycle when a women is not ovulating. Therefore, would not be able to get pregnant.

Yes: But safety is not really the question. If you are pregnant than the bleeding cannot be a period, by definition. Some bleeding during pregnancy is actually not that unusual, but you should be checked in case you are miscarrying or it is otherwise not a normal pregnancy.
