A member asked:

Tinge of blood in my 2 year toddlers poop, this is 2nd time i saw..first one last week and 2nd today. i could see just a drop of blood in his poop and that too only with initial hard poop rest of the poop is normal( not hard) no fever no other symptom?

Depends: Strings of bright red blood attached to the outside of a hard or bulky stool suggest a scratch/tear in the outlet from a bulky or hard stool. Id it is blobs of blood mixed within the stool it suggests a germ like salmonella/shigella may be the cause of an infectious process. An exam and testing may be needed to sort that out.
