A member asked:

How long should i be in a thumb spica cast for a nondisplaced scaphoid fracture?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

6-12 wks: Failure of this fracture to heal is one of the more worrisome complication of any fracture in the wrist. Casts are usually placed for a period of 6-12 wks. If a followup x-ray with the cast on that shows healing can lead to removal sooner rather than later.
