A member asked:

Is serotonin syndrome rare? my psychiatrist prescribed me 20mg of lexapro once a day and 50mg of trozodone for night time. i'm always currently tapering off klonopin. i get occasional headaches, muscle stiffness, restless legs and muscle twitches.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Serotonin syndrome: I have never seen a case of serotonin syndrome but have been careful not to prescribe the vast array of medications that shouldn't be combined with ssri's like lexapro. I don't believe that trazodone or klonopin raise serotonin levels and therefore can be taken with lexapro. However I would like you to verify this with your pharmacist who has access to more information than most physicians.
