Unlikely to happen: Inheritance risk of a congenital heart defect is variable and involves genes on several chromosomes. Most list the risk of any form of congenital heart disease if a single parent had any form is 4%.That does not mean the same defect, but any defect. If both parents had a form, 8%. If one or both parents has a genetic syndrome that includes a heart defect (exceedingly rare) the risk could be higher.
