I recently was told this could be neurological but i'd like a second opinion before seeing a doc. i had a punk rock pain near rear left shoulder blade, like a thorn, which has not gone away but the skin is numb around the area. it's been weeks now.

Wrong way around: You're not asking for a second opinion. You're asking for a first opinion without benefit of examination, x-rays, lab tests, etc. You;'re asking for a guess, which is counter-productive. Please see a qualified Physician to begin the diagnostic process.
