Loss of smell: The loss of smell may be permanent(if due to brain damage) or may be temporary. In temporary cases the return of smell may take weeks or months and appears to return gradually often with some gradual improvement in taste first.

Smell should return: Most COVID 19 patients with anosmia recover within 3 weeks. The median time to have return of sense of smell is 7 days. REF: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7211515/#:~:text=Most%20patients%20with%20anosmia%20or,early%20stage%20of%20the%20disease.
