Internally, yes: Weakness in the wall of a cerebral artery or vein causes a localized dilation or ballooning of the blood vessel (aneurysm). A brain aneurysm can leak or rupture, causing bleeding into the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). Most often a ruptured brain aneurysm occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain. Within the brain, it can occur anywhere there are blood vessels.
