Blood in stools is abnormal and should be checked out. Your symptoms could well be due to irritable bowel syndrome and hemorrhoids bleeding. Mucus is common with IBS. Other possibilities include inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis of the colon or growths in the rectum or colon. A gastroenterologist or proctologist can evaluate and advise you. A fodmap diet helps IBS.
