A member asked:

My amyles level is 131 what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends: That level is not that high and amylase is a normal enzyme in the body that is supposed to help digestion. It is made by the pancreas and the salivary glands. It could be used to measure if there is inflammation in the pancreas because then it is in high level in the blood. The upper limits for various assays vary so if it is just slightly high for the assay you have and no symptoms do not worry.
