My toddlerlet has a urine odor that smells sort of like gasoline. i notice it off and on. right now he's on amoxicillin. could that be the reason?

Most likely: Yes, most likely the odor is just due to the amoxicillin. Penicillin antibiotics have a tendency to give the urine a penicillin-like smell. As long as it's not discolored and the smell goes away after he finishes the amoxicillin, i wouldn't worry.
