A member asked:

I found a few boxes of blood glucose testing strips that have expired a year ago, can i still use them?

No: Please do not use strips that expired a year ago. Sometimes strips can be used for a very short time after expiration if they were stored properly but even that carries risk of inaccurate reading. False numbers can lead to wrong management of diabetes.

Agree with Dr. K: Testing strips deteriorate with time and exposure to humidity. The expired strips may not give you accurate results.
