SCM pain: Sternocleidomastoid pain/ injury can occur from whiplash or falling, doing overhead work, sudden movements, sleeping on abdomen wi head turned to 1 side, poor posture, coughing related to bronchitis/ pneumonia, a collar or tie that is too tight, bending neck forward to type or turning head to side while using computer. It can also be referred pain from another part of the body.
