Call Dr: Any type of abortion, medical or surgical, can be complicated by persistent or heavy bleeding . There is always a concern of incomplete uterine emptying which leads to bleeding: a physical exam & possibly ultrasound &/or blood test for HCG hormone level could be helpful. Sometimes women need a D&C to clean out remaining placenta, etc. Women can benefit from Counselling also after abortion
