Hard to predict: The new nature of covid and the current testing methods have limitations that prevent a clear picture from being evident. Swabs look for genetic markers of the virus but these can be present when the virus is no longer contagious. Some test positive for months and how we should look at this is confusing. It is not like a strep throat where we can easily grow the germ & prove it is alive/infectious.

Very small: There have been some case reports of people who were sick with COVID 19 and positive on PCR test who then recovered with negative test- only to become ill again with another positive. There was recently a case in which a man tested positive for two different COVID 19 strains at different times.
