My daughter has had head lice for almost a year now. we have tried numerous over the counter treatments including combing, vacuuming and washing linen in hot water. please advise if there is a stronger prescription medicine we could get?

Maybe: I would first have the condition confirmed by a doc. There are a variety of prescribed treatments available but if the kid has a scalp condition that mimics lice they will not help either.

See a doctor: There are some prescription medications that may be possible,but you would need to have her seen by a doctor first to confirm(possibly not lice).Also, should consider consulting with a specialist(not a doctor)who really works on getting all the nits(eggs)out.That is often the reason that this does not resolve with over the counter treatment.Also, look at possible reinfection from other children.
