Common: Most issues that cause a sore throat (Viral or bacterial) will damage tissue & create symptoms that last days if not weeks. Mono often triggers throat pain that can last 3 weeks. You have the options of continuing what you are doing (which helps) or going in to see if you have a problem that requires antibiotics.

Agree with Dr. F: It is imperative that strep throat be ruled out. It may require a test and or culture. If it is bacterial infection, antibiotic treatment would require a prescription. Wish you good health!
