Without : Without having the benefit of visualizing this area, it sounds like you may have a mucopyocele of the oropharynx (basically an obstructed and secondarily infected minor salivary gland of the throat). A trial course of appropriatelly directed antibiotics and office-based marsupialization of the cyst ( basically an i & d) may be of benefit. A general rule of thumb is persistent sore throats not improving over several weeks should be checked out. Its also possible you may have a small peritonsillar abscess or peritonsillitis with tonsillolith fomation. One wouldn't know without looking.
