A member asked:

Hi doctors if i have had unprotected sexual intercourse with an hiv positive person 9 days ago, is there treatment possible to flush the virus out, or it's too late, i must just test for the virus and pray for the best?

Wat to be tested: There is nothing to be done now to "flush out" the virus or otherwise reduce the risk. But remember that the risk of HIV from a single episode of vaginal sex with an infected partner is around 1 in a thousand or even lower. Ask your partner if s/he is infected. If in doubt or uncertain, get tested as you have planned, but stay mellow in the meantime. The odds are strongly in your favor.
