Coincidence?: Perhaps you did have a cold. It is also possible, especially this time of year to suffer from allergies, and while coincidental to one another it may explain the chronic post nasal drip and symptom you describe. Try a Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and see if this reduces the problem (a long used antihistamine).
