A member asked:

Random gas pains throughout the day, then suddenly bad pains in the chest. i just had a bowel movement but the pain is still there. i also havent even eaten anything. what could this be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gas: The chest pains can also be from gaseous bloating of the stomach or from esophageal cramping. To prevent excessive gas buildup, avoid gassy foods and beverages and take simethicone 1/2 hour after a meal. Drinking hot water helps break down gas promoting transit down the intestinal tract and out the rectum. Don't force yourself to belch as you only keep swallowing air. Start eating a light diet.
